

Edna Long Waller, 92, of the Dozier Community in Pfafftown passed away on March 16, 2011. She was born December 15, 1918 to Grady Holt and Ethel Holder Long, and lived in the Dozier Community all her life. She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. She graduated from Old Richmond School and worked at Hanes Hosiery weeks plant in Winston-Salem until 1961. She married Woodrow Waller May, 1940 who passed away in 1984. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Inez and Thelma; brother Grady “Booby” Long; and sisters-in-law Louise Long and Pansy Long. She and Woodrow started operating Wallers Grocery Store in 1956. She continued after his death until 2004 when her health failed. The store has been in the family since 1926. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Marie Waller Styers and Phillip Styers of Pfafftown; grandsons Steve Styers and wife Dawn of Winston-Salem; David Styers and wife Teresa of Lewisville; great-grandsons William and Nickolas Styers; sister Joyce L. Spainhour of Winston-Salem; brothers Joe and Glen of Pfafftown; sister-in-law Hazel Long; six nieces and four nephews. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery on Vienna-Dozier Road in Pfafftown with Rev. Dick Patzfahl officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 17, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel.
