He was born on June 8, 1934 in Pfafftown to William and Alice Doub. He attended Old Town highschool and went on to further his education at Tulane University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Gene was an accomplished entrepreneur. His passion was building. Gene was a licensed general contractor. He designed and built Heather Hills golf course and Townhomes, Patriot’s Point golf course, The Par-3 bistro, as well as other developments across North Carolina.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Bill Doub. He leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Kelly Smith; sons, David Doub and Joseph Doub; sister, Nancy Shelton; and many other loved ones and friends.
A visitation will be Monday, December 11th from 1-3pm at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Rd. The funeral service will follow at 3pm with his sons officiating the service. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Winston-Salem Rescue Mission, 718 N Trade St, Winston Salem, NC 27101.
