

Jack was born on November 18, 1931 at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem and was raised in Pinnacle North Carolina. He was the fifth of six children born to Dolphus Lee and Myrtle Estes Nunn Gordon. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and in 1954 married Betty Jo Pritchard. In 1955 he began his career with Roadway Express, retiring in 1986 after 31 years of service. After retiring he enjoyed restoring houses and rebuilding old cars.
He will be remembered as a man who loved his family and was very concerned about the wellbeing of others, especially those who were home bound or incapable of caring for them self. He played an important role in the care and support of aged and ailing family and neighbors. He visited his Aunt Ferol weekly for fifteen years while she was a resident of a nursing home.
He is survived by his wife of fifty eight years, Betty Pritchard of the home; son, George Lee Gordon of Washington, DC; sister, Rachel Alice Gordon Blevins and husband Stuart of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law, Terry S. Gordon of Inman, SC; brother-in-law, Charlie Gray Pritchard of Winston-Salem; nephew, Reece Gordon and wife Anne of Greensboro; nieces, Sharon Penley and husband Charles of Mayodan, Cindy Garren and husband David of Inman, SC, Susan Fulton of Winton-Salem, Lisa Blevins of Atlanta, GA, Julie Gordon of NH; Cindy Martin and husband Tony of Tobaccoville; and Jack’s beloved dog, Sidney. He is preceded in death by his sister, Myra Lea Gordon Fulton; brothers, Dolphus Laurence “DL” Gordon, James Calvin Gordon and Wallace Reece Gordon.
The family will receive guests from 5 to 7 PM, Sunday, June 2, at Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel. The funeral will be at 11 AM, Monday, June 3 at the funeral home officiated by Reverend Charles Penley. Interment will take place in Forsyth Memorial Park.
