

Helen was born in Winston-Salem to the late Thomas Matthew and Myrtle Jackson Chunn, Sr. She was employed at Western Electric for 19 years in the 1940s and 50s and then moved to Sarasota, FL where she took a position as editor at the National Research Bureau. When Helen was in her 50s she went to nursing school and in her 60s she returned to college and received her Master’s degree in nursing.
Helen possessed a fun loving adventurous spirit, had a can do attitude her entire life and was always doing something new and exciting even into her later years. Her family and friends were so important to her and will be remembered for her great sense of humor, creativity and love of life. She was an avid reader, liked to sew and was an extremely talented writer.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Tomlinson; grandson, Gary Tomlinson II; sister, Jane Chunn; and brother, Thomas Chunn, Jr. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Leslie Tomlinson Jordan of Winston-Salem, Gary (Willadean) Tomlinson of Charlotte, James (Toni) Tomlinson II of Pleasant Garden, and Steven (Marsha) Tomlinson of Greenville, NC; sisters, Sylvia Allen and Wanda (Wayne) Linville both of Winston-Salem; brothers, Larry (Kay) Chunn of Winston-Salem and Calvin (Jane) Chunn, of King; grandchildren, Sheri Tomlinson, Kimberly (David) Hickey, Kristin Tomlinson, Stephanie Tomlinson, Aaron Tomlinson and Chelene Jordan; and nine great-grandchildren.
