Jason graduated from West Forsyth High School and went on to study graphic arts at Guilford Technical College. He always loved art. Jason’s artistic skills pushed into music as well. He taught himself how to play guitar at 11. Jason learned by ear and never learned to read sheet music.
Jason had a true heart of empathy. He cared for all living beings. Jason loved studying botany. He once grew a lemon tree from a single seed. He also loved all animals. He looked forward to house sitting and gave each animal so much love and attention they often chose Jason over their owner when their owners returned.
Though he was an introvert, those close to him knew what a true goofball he could be. Jason loved to make others laugh. He declared himself the fun uncle for all his nieces and nephews, dawning the self-made title of “funcle.” His shoes and sunglasses were always fun and colorful representing the jovial quality of his heart.
Jason leaves behind his mom, Karen Loveless Bumgardner; father, Tony Bumgardner; sisters, Stacey (Jeremy) Hussey and Amanda (Daniel) Pruitt; nieces and nephews, Emma and Eli Hussey, Forrest, Lucy, and Blake Pruitt; best friend and partner of 18 years, Ashley Prewitt; and numerous other family members and friends. Jason and Ashley also shared fur babies that he loved as his own children.
Memorial contributions can be made in Jason’s honor to your local humane society.
