

Mr. Joe Bill Cheek, age 83, of Winston-Salem, taken to Heaven early morning January 4th 2023. He passed away in-home hospice in his own bed as was his wish with the love of his life, wife Janet Couch Cheek, by his side till his last breath. They were married 61 years. Joe was born November 18th 1939, in Surry County to the late John Wesley Cheek and Laticia "Ticy" Adeline Wood Cheek. He is survived by his wife of 61 yrs Janet Louise Couch Cheek and 2 adult children, Sandra Cheek Norman(James Lee Norman-dec) and Christopher William Cheek, Grandchildren, Timothy Norman (Rhandi), Maggie Parish(Dan), Crystal Norman, Isidro Aguero, Stephen Cheek(Margaret), Great grandchildren, Wilhelm Norman, Scarlett Norman, Astrid Parish, Keller Norman. Sisters, Claire Edwards(Roger-dec), Doris Evans(Edward-dec), Marie Niemiec (Iggy-dec). Brothers in law and Sisters in law as well as numerous neice and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by grandson James William "Billy" Norman as well as brother Clarence Cheek(Gwen) and sister Annie May Cheek Evans Maas(Howard-dec, Jim-dec).
Joe was a Born Again Believer in Christ and avid life long Fisherman. He proudly served our great country USA in the Military 2nd and 4th armored division of the US Army. He worked 33 years R.J. Reynolds.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 11 at 1PM in the chapel at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home of Clemmons. Interment to follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12:30 -1 PM prior to the service.
