

Kathleen Margaret Salmons-Patterson, 92, of Winston-Salem passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014. She was born on April 3, 1922 in Yadkin County to George Franklin Salmons and Pearl Mae Williams-Salmons. She was a loving mother and took great care of her two boys. She was the third of nine siblings.
She was employed 18 years at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem where she retired.
She was a longtime member of Immanuel New Eden Moravian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, L. P. Salmons, George Franklin Salmons, Jr., Rev. Jack Lee Salmons, and James "Jimmy" Harold Salmons, Sr.; three sisters, Nonnie Avis Salmons-Groce, Mildred Marie Salmons-Sunderlin-Gorham, and Leatha Mae Salmons-Howard; four brothers-in-law, Alvin Eli Sunderlin, Dewey Curtis Knight, Allyn Gilbert Gorham, and Eugene Franklin Groce; a niece, Frances Eugenia "Genia" Sunderlin-Person; a nephew-in-law, Marvin "Leon" Gwynn; and a great-granddaughter, Erin Olson.
Surviving are her sons, William Alvino “Al” Patterson and Ronnie Lee Patterson (Linda) both of Winston-Salem; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Louise Letner-Patterson-Coleman (Cliff) of Rapid City, S.D.; a sister, Carrol Jean Salmons-Knight of Walnut Cove, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Marie Stimpson-Salmons-Presson of Pfafftown, N.C. and Shirley Faye Cagle-Salmons of Clemmons, N.C.; a brother-in-law, Casper Albert Howard of Clemmons, N.C.; two grandsons, Mark Alan Patterson and William Todd Patterson both of Winston-Salem; three granddaughters, Robin Leigh Patterson-Ball (Dean) of Advance, N.C., Tracy Louise Patterson-Olson (Scott) of Rapid City, S.D., and Lori Ann Patterson of East Bend, N.C.; two great-grandsons, Ryan Patterson Ball of Advance, N.C. and Carson Todd Olson of Rapid City, S.D.; a great-granddaughter, Riley Katherine Ball of Advance, N.C.; and numerous nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 19 at Frank Vogler & Sons in Winston-Salem (Reynolda Road). A memorial service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Cheryl Cottingham officiating. The interment will be immediately following the service at God’s Acre at Home Moravian Church in Winston-Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Autism Society of North Carolina, Inc. at 505 Oberlin Road, Suite 230, Raleigh, NC 27605.
Active pallbearers for Mrs. Patterson son will be Larry Hodges, Gary Pinnix, Lee McKnight, Jim Royal, Dean Ball, and Terry Greene.
