

Bermuda Run- Mr. Kirk Walter Harris, 26, died September 23, 2012. Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Sunday, September 30 at Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel with interment to follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. Drs. Mark Ralls and Robert Nations will officiate.
Kirk was born in Winston-Salem to Dr. & Mrs. Dean and Vicky Rush Harris. He attended Reynolds High School and graduated from Mt. Tabor High School in 2004. He was an accomplished athlete especially excelling in soccer. While playing for Reynolds High School he earned the MVP award and set the JV scoring record. He received numerous awards for his athleticism and accolades from coaches and team mates. He will be remembered as a confident person, one who motivated others but was not afraid to make fun of himself. He was intensely loyal to his family and friends and loved them deeply.
Kirk was an active duty assault man in the US Marine Corps. He served with the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines in Afghanistan and was a fearless Marine. He was attached to a Marine Expeditionary Unit which patrolled Helmand Province while British troops were performing road construction. While serving in Afghanistan he earned the combat action ribbon. Kirk was extremely honored to serve his country.
Kirk leaves behind his wife, Sarah Browder Harris of Greensboro; his parents, Dr. Dean and Mrs. Vicky Harris of Bermuda Run; sisters, Leslie (Ray) Brooks of Raleigh and Cary (Dan) Floyd of Clearwater, FL; brothers, Cpt. Jacob (Emily) Harris of Midway, GA, and David Harris of Greensboro; grandparents, Dave and Betty Rush of Marco Island, FL; nieces and nephews, Olivia and Zoe Brooks, Carter Floyd and Liam Harris; aunt, Mary Ann Skinnner of Hurst, TX; uncles, David (Jill) Rush, Jr. of Anchorage, AK and Ed (Cindy) Rush of Naples, FL; numerous cousins; special great uncle and aunt Bob & Carolyn Whitted of Hartsville, SC; parents-in-law, “Sandy” and Susan Browder of Winston-Salem; brother-in-law, Ben (Lauren K.) Browder of Virginia Beach, VA; and sister-in-law, Katie (Kate) Browder of Gainesville, FL. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Jerrye Taylor and paternal grandparents, Roscoe Walter and Ella Mae Baldwin Harris.
