Michele Campion passed away after a long illness on January 22, 2014. She leaves her beloved husband Frank Campion, her mother Patricia O’Donoghue, sister Deborah Randazzo, brother Richard O’Donoghue Jr. and many dear friends, colleagues and acquaintances behind. Her father, Richard O’Donoghue is deceased.
Michele was born in Marblehead, MA and attended Marblehead High. Foresaking college, she moved to New York City where she worked as a model for the designer, Halston. She walked the runway at many fashion shows and modeled dresses, in-store, for the likes of Jaqueline Onassis and Liza Minelli. By night she could be found at Studio 54 tripping the light fantastic.
She returned to Marblehead and worked variously as a flower arranger/florist and real estate broker. She married Frank Campion in 1988 and shortly after, the couple moved to Winston-Salem. Michele went back to school to get her college degree at Salem College and UNCG. She attended graduate school at Smith College in North Hampton MA and received her MSW.
After starting her career at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, she found her niche at Family Behavioral Health where she helped many people across a variety of difficulties most especially substance abuse and addiction.
Her husband, family, friends, acquaintances and clients alike will remember her for her endless patience, gentleness, kindness and compassion.
The world is a dimmer place for her passing, but, no doubt, heaven is a bit brighter.
A funeral service will be held 11 AM, Thursday, January 30th in the Chapel of Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home, Reynolda Chapel. The family will have a gathering following the service from 12:30 until 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park at 3 PM.
