Robert Calvin March, Sr.

Pfafftown-This obituary briefly tells the life of a wonderful husband, father and all around amazing human being. Robert Calvin “Bob” March began his new journey peacefully-his spirit transitioning from his home on January 6, 2013.

Bob was born on July 6, 1930 in Springfield, MO. He graduated from the Rolla Schools of Mines in Rolla, MO with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired from Alcatell-Lucent in 1987 after a thirty four year career. Bob devoted his retirement to family, social causes and Burkhead United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities and taught Sunday school for thirty years. He contributed regularly to the Reader’s Forum in the Winston-Salem Journal and enjoyed sharing his thoughts with others.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of sixty-three years; two daughters, Lynn Rose and husband Rick and Summer March and husband Baron Longfellow; two sons, Robert C. March, Jr. and Walter M. March and wife Debbie; grandchildren, April and Jeremy Rose, Connor and Cooper March; great grandchild, Gavin Rose; and brother, Bill March.

A service honoring his life and contributions will be at Burkhead United Methodist Church at 2 PM on Thursday, January 10, 2013.
