Barry Mayer Weisberg passed away peacefully on September 9th, at the age of 94. He was the beloved, cherished, and devoted husband of Myta Weisberg (Bernard) for over 50 years. Loving father to Geoff (Jan) Weisberg, Eric Weisberg (deceased), Jon (Lindy) Weisberg, Matt (Ilana) Weisberg, Aaron (Cindy) Weisberg and Yanna (Mark) Weisberg. Funny (and sometimes lovingly grumpy) Grandpa and Great Grandpa.
Born in "good old" Cleveland, Ohio, Barry attended Cleveland Heights High School and went on to graduate from Harvard University and Harvard Law School. Along with his obvious intelligence came a dry wit, a candid sense of humor, an excellent singing voice, and extreme devotion to providing for his family. After serving in the army and helping in the desegregation movement in Arkansas (and possibly seeing Elvis get his Army haircut), he worked for the Veterans Administration for 40 years. While there, he spoke before congress on multiple occasions, working to expedite processes to provide veterans the support they need, and making sure the Cleveland office had good coffee. He was very proud to help people there, much like he helped countless family members whenever they needed him.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday September 13th from 11am to 5pm and Sunday September 14th from 2pm to 8pm at the home of Matt and Ilana Weisberg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Hillel.org
Arrangements have been entrusted to the directors at Berkowitz Kumin and Bookatz Memorial Chapel.
