

Darling daughter of Walter H. (z’l) and Marion (z’l) Stearns; beloved wife of Stanley; adored mother of Stacie, Warren (Gail Schroeder) and Wayne; loving grandmother of Daniel and Claire; dear sister of Joyce (Stearns) Zabell; aunt of Marci, Fred, Sam and Lynn; great aunt of Raychel, Ryan, Sam, Chad and Jake; great-great aunt of Ewan, Lucian and Grey.
Ethel was born in Cleveland, Ohio and attended Cleveland Heights high school with a passion for theater, the arts and music. Ethel had a very kind heart, and her love of her family and friends was seen and felt by everyone during her lifetime. She loved to travel and play Mahjong with her close friends Ellen, Lil, Judith, Andrea & many more. In her lifetime, Ethel was a co-owner of the Second Story Exchange on Larchmere, one of the first consignment shops in Cleveland, went on to earn her real estate license and later founded No-Whey Chocolates, Vegan Candy Shoppe. Ethel approached life with wit and wisdom, was a people person and will be missed by many. She was a beloved matriarch who led her family with faith, grace, kindness, contagious energy and remarkable strength. Funeral Services will be held BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1985 S. TAYLOR RD., CLEVELAND HTS. on Tuesday, June 18 at 3 PM. The Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery, 27855 Aurora Road, Solon. The family will receive friends on Tuesday until 9 PM at the Wernick Residence, 5162 Berrington Court, Solon. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ethel’s memory are suggested to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Hillcrest Hospital Nursing staff.
