

HERBERT SCHLOSSER, age 82, of Cleveland Heights passed away on February 27. Beloved husband of Martha (nee Chiterer); loving father of Arthur (Mary Ann) of Toledo and Rachelle (Michael Kerrigan) of Forest Hills, NY; dearest grandfather of Sarah Schlosser, Miranda and Sean Kerrigan. Herb was Martha's most ardent supporter and most valuable critic of her musical career, especially before a concert. Herb loved his daughter-in-law Mary Ann and son-in-law Michael as his own children. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 18, 1929. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a PhD in Physics and served in the Air Force. In 1968 he moved to Cleveland Heights to begin a career as a physics professor at Cleveland State University where he retired in 1994. His distinguished career included Sabbaticals in Brazil (1966-1967), Israel's Weizman Institute (1973-1974), Case Western Reserve (1979-1980) as well as many summers at NASA. He enjoyed world travel, concerts, theatre, museums and reading. Services will be held at BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1985 S. TAYLOR RD., CLEVELAND HTS., Thursday, March 1 at 2 PM. Interment Workmen's Circle Cemetery. The family will observe shivah at the Schlosser residence, 2600 Lee Rd., Cleveland Hts. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Autism Society of Northwest Ohio, (http://support.autism-society.org) or the Jewish National Fund (www.jnf.org)
