Izhak Shamir

Izhak Shamir, age 87, of Moreland Hills, Ohio, Holocaust survivor who made Aliyah to Israel on the Exodus ship 1947; passed away on Tuesday October 21, 2025.

Son of Dov and Rachel Shamir; beloved husband of Judith (nee Weiss); devoted father of Dan (Liz) Shamir, Rachel (Aaron) Lapp, Daphne (Richard) Soclof.

Cherished grandfather of Dov (Stephanie) Shamir, Gidon (Rachel) Shamir, Sara (Eitan) Pludwinski, Liam (Renee) Shamir, Zvi (Adi) Lapp, Sarit Lapp, Yoni (Lielle) Lapp, Ariel (Chana) Lapp, Lizzy (Benny) Horowitz, Abby (Mordi) Levi, Elijah (Leora) Soclof, Nathaniel Soclof, Maggie Soclof.

Dear Great Grandfather of Batya, Eva, Elan, Ezra, Gabey, Jonah, Ollie, Nadav, Raya, Lital, Hilla, Zohar, David, Michael, David, Eliav and Ashira.

Funeral Chapel Service: Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 11:00am at Berkowitz - Kumin - Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 South Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44118.

Interment: Immediately following the service at Zion Memorial Park, 5461 Northfield Rd, Bedford Heights, Ohio 44146.

The family will observe shivah at the residence of Daphne and Richard Soclof, 2375 Halcyon Road, Beachwood, Ohio 44122. Hours are as follows:
