What a blessing Mollie Macknin was to any student who was fortunate to have her touch your life. Her love of music & genuine care and compassion for her students, made her one of the best loved, admired, and respected teachers. We are blessed to have had her in our lives & it was a joy to see and talk with her at the Chagrin Falls High School Blossom Time Reunion weekend. Thank you Mrs. Macknin for sharing your love of music, and for all you did for so many!

Dear Mike, Gary and family,

It was with profound sadness that I only recently learned of your mother's death.  She was a wonderful lady with a glorious voice which she generously shared with so many.  As you know, our parents were very close friends and because of that I had the privilege of experiencing her warmth and love.  The world was a better place with her in it.  There is surely a place for her at G-d's right hand.  My deepest sympathies to you all.  Her memory will be forever a blessing.

As a child I remember her singing at Park Synagogue; a beautiful voice. Sad to hear she's passed on.

So grateful that I had gotten to see her at my last reunion. I am forever grateful for all the encouragement she gave to everyone during her teachings. So sorry for your loss.  Susan Whaley Puckett

Thank you, Mollie! You taught me music and so much more.  I have been recalling all of the wonderful experiences with you.  While we did some amazing pieces, the most meaningful was Bernstein's Chichester Psalms.  What a blessing it was to have this woman of faith, not only teach us the Hebrew but the true meaning of the text.  Truly a sacred experience!  We will always hold you in our hearts!

I know there are hundreds or Thousands of us from CFHS who mourn the passing of Mollie Macknin.  But there are those same people who received so much encouragement, love and music from such a wonderful woman.  She was strict, because she expected you to go beyond your comfort zone to be the best that you could be Chorally.  And learning to dance for musicals was a bit daunting to those of us not so coordinated people, but you did it because she asked.  She touched all of us with that special twinkle in her eyes, especially when she smiled that beaming smile!!  The last time I saw her, at the Mollie Macknin Alumni Chorus concert last May, she still had that smile, that twinkle and I hope that we were able to touch her just a smidgen of how she touched us!!!  We will always love you Mollie, and your family is our family as well.  You gave a lot of her time to us, and we are eternally grateful.  With love, Virginia Taft

Mollie Macknin was my first Jewish music teacher. She gave me remarkable opportunities to learn and to work in the field, which has been a lifelong part-time career for me. Words cannot express my gratitude. Zichrona livracha.

What a great force Mollie Macknin was! She compelled excellence from her students. I remain impressed by her and fond of her all my days.

Mollie will always remain in my heart and soul as one of the greatest influences in my life. Her love for music aside, it was the love and care she gave me that changed my life.  Mollie was a remarkable woman with a generous spirit. God bless her always.

The impact that our beloved choir director had on so many of us cannot be expressed. She will not be forgotten by the hundreds of students who were given the opportunity to learn and love music because of her.

Mollie Macknin gave me my life, by showing me my voice.  I was one of the many she poured herself into.  Her loving toughness, her insistence on nothing less than our best, and her ability to show us that "our best" was far better than we could ever imagine changed my life, and the lives of many of us.  She will be remembered for a blessing.
