Norm Singer was born in Cleveland, OH to the late Marion (Scott) and Nathan Singer. Norm was a devoted husband and father, committed Cleveland sports fan (especially the Indians/Guardians), and an honest and respected accountant. He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia (Speer) Singer, his children, Gerri Kahnweiler (David), Debra Singer, Jonathon Singer (Carolyn) and Rebecca Singer, loving grandchildren McKensie Kahnweiler, Alex Kahnweiler (Rebecca), Kyle Kanweiler (Caitie), Kimberly Kahnweiler, Henry Singer and Will Singer, adorable great-grandchildren Frankie, Stella and Dash Kahnweiler, his sister Sharon Priesand (Paul), and numerous nieces and nephews.
An alumnus of Ohio State and Western Reserve Universities, upon graduation he quickly set up his own accounting firm which through his hard work and persistence created a comfortable life for his family. Norm took his skills to Orange Village where he served on Council for over a decade and for one term as Mayor (1984-1988). After retiring from Village government, he served as the treasurer of the Friends of Orange Library, where he served for well over a decade. He played baseball from the age he could hold a bat and throw a ball until he was 87 years old. The baseball field provided a space to build amazing friendships; some started as a teen in Cleveland Heights and others as a member of the Babes of 1916 in Solon. In addition to sports, Norm and Pat enjoyed travelling, managing to visit all seven continents. In addition to cultivating his own garden, he was known to weed and deadhead plants wherever he saw them--including while walking with friends at Eton. He was a regular at the poker table and the theater, as well as the sports fields and pools where his children and grandchildren competed. Norm will be remembered for his hard work, honesty, public service, devotion to family, and long and abiding friendships.
