I was a patient of your mom back in 2006. I would not be living if it wasn't for her. I was 6 hours from being gangrene and dying. Your mom was the surgeon on call on Aug. 19th, 2006. As I listened to the beautiful tributes to your mom via zoom, I was so impressed at all the wonderful things she accomplished. She was at the right place at the right time.  I will never forget her.  My father is buried very close to your mom. I have already gone to her grave and paid her a visit. I will always be thankful to her.  The scars on my abdomen will be a reminder of the fine work she did and the reason I am still here today. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Saying goodbye to one of my oldest and dearest friends is so difficult, but the tributes from Daniel, David, and Rebecca resonate so beautifully for me. You’ve described Sharon’s essence as a true Gaon and Eyshet Chayel so beautifully! We met as freshmen at MIT- 2 girls( we weren’t women then) of the 45 women in a class of 1000.  Two Jewish girls interested in math and science and medicine. In our time at MIT and beyond, through Medical School and life, we shared so many of the same struggles, and delights!  Your Mom and her Mother sat in my Cleveland living room, after Sharon decided to finish her training in Cleveland, and I remember saying to your grandmother, that she shouldn’t worry about Sharon being in Cleveland!! I’d was going to take care of her!!

One night, on call at University Hospitals, I had midnight dinner with your dad, with whom I’d worked several times in the OR. When he told me about himself, and as we chatted and reminisced, your mother’s name was flashing in neon lights in my brain, and I knew I had to introduce them!!  One of my life’s greatest achievements was making their shidduch!!

Whenever I’d speak to your parents on the phone, your dad would always add in his sparkling and witty voice “ You know, the Shidduch is still holding!!”

The last time I spoke to your mom, several months ago, we talked about probably seeing each other when she was visiting in Maryland, and I was visiting in DC and wondering if our kids ever were in Shalom Kosher at the same time!

I’ll always remember your mother for her accomplishments, her piano playing, her beautiful photography, her amazing intellect, and her friendship! 

How fitting that today is Sharon and Michael’s 46th wedding anniversary!
