

Shirley Baskin passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, at the age of 89. She was born on October 16, 1936, to Abraham and Dorothy Samtur.
Shirley found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed going to the casino, getting facials, having her hair and nails done, and watching movies, game shows and sporting events. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a vibrant personality and was universally loved. She was endlessly curious, a wonderful conversationalist and genuinely interested in everyone with whom she came into contact. Her warmth, humor and love for family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Carin Chumney (Ron); her son, Andrew Baskin (Cassy) her daughter-in-law, Beth Baskin (Bruce); her grandchildren Jessica Agler (Jack), Jaimie Keeney (Andrew), Brett Baskin (Sophia), Brad Baskin (Becca), Brynn Baskin and Blake Baskin; and her great-grandchildren Anna Keeney, James Keeney, Ari Baskin and Beau Baskin.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham Samtur and Dorothy Sperling; her beloved husband, Allan Baskin; and her son, Bruce Baskin.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery in Solon, Ohio.
Shiva will be observed at 7144 Southwoods Lane Solon, OH. on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Monday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
