Susan Saltzman was born in Sweden as the only child of Celina and Henry Lippman. At 2 years old, she emigrated with her parents to the USA and became a naturalized citizen. Sue grew up in Philadelphia, graduating from Northeast High School and earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Temple University. She was a licensed Speech Pathologist, practicing her profession with diligence and patience, working mainly with people from foreign nations under the label The Accent Reduction Company.
Susan married Michael Saltzman (see his death notice from December 1, 2025) in 1983 and moved from Philly to his hometown of Cleveland. They lived in Shaker Heights, OH until Michael retired from his family law practice when they moved to Mayfield Heights, OH. Susan and Michael were active in their Jewish faith and longtime members of Temple Emanu El.
She enjoyed playing the piano, the game of Maj Jongg, and participating in a lady’s choir, singing at her synagogue, nursing homes, and various local events. Those close to Susan referred to her by the nickname Suzie. She was a genuinely sweet person with a huge smile, a razor-sharp wit, and a large group of dedicated friends.
Susan Saltzman passed away peacefully on January 09, 2026, her memory living forever among a loving group of friends and family and joins her recently deceased husband, Michael, in eternity.
A Celebration of Life service will take place at Temple Emanu El (4545 Brainard Road, Orange Village) on Wednesday, January 14th at 4:00pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan’s memory may be made to the Jewish Family Service Association (jfsa.org) or to the Temple Emanu El's Manny + Sherrie Sperling Family Arts + Entertainment Fund: (https://teecleve.easyshul.com/donation)
Arrangements were made under the supervision of Berkowitz Kumin Bookatz Memorial Chapel.
