

Charles James Purify was born on January 10, 1940, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the only child of Johnny and Ada Mae Parks Purify. Charles attended Elementary School in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Charles moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1951, where he graduated from Glenville High School on January 20, 1960. Charles was a member of Temple Baptist Church on Cedar Avenue under Pastor Eugene Ward and Congregation.
He loved to bowl and skate; he was employed with the United States Post office for two years. Charles serviced 3 years with the U.S. Army.
On January 25, 1964, Charles married Glenda Mott and to this union one child was born, Robert Glenn Purify. Charles and his family moved to Los Angeles, California where he attended Los Angeles State University and was employed at Douglas Aircraft for 3 years before returning to Cleveland, Ohio in 1971. After the family’s arrival, he gained employment with the Tuberculosis Association for over two years and later with Grey Hound Bus Station on Chester Avenue.
Charles was preceded in death by parents Ada Barnett and Dock Barnett.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Robert Glenn (Lisa) Purify of Louisville, KY, and (Robert’s mother Glenda Tims) other loved ones and friends.
