Doris May Evans was born on February 13th, 1928 to Joseph Fitch and Leslie Belle Keyes at City Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. She married George Evans, Sr. in 1968 and to this union added seven children to the blessed six they already had between them; resulting in a clan of thirteen! She attended Kinsman Elementary School where she did well in academics and participated in such activities as the Girls’ Reserves, and John Hay High School where she derived one of her favorite memories of placing second in a talent show with her best friend, also named Doris; singing Nat King Coles’ Route 66. Later in life, she worked as a Nursing Assistant at Cleveland Clinic and later as a Housekeeper at Moreland Courts Condominiums. A quiet spirit, Doris always sought to see the good in others and encouraged her children to always try and get along with one another and stay together. Her fondest memories are those of her childhood visiting her grandfather’s farm in Fitzgerald, Georgia where he prodded his twin bulls, Red and Yella to do their chores. She leaves to mourn eight (8) children; her sister Margaret Ruffin & family; and a host of other relatives, loved ones and neighbors of Abington Arms Apartments. No doubt; her powerful witness throughout her life of the goodness of God has resulted in countless saints who have greeted her at the Gate. Truly, this is a day of REJOICING as she is absent from the body, but present with the Lord!!!
