10, 1946, one of ten children to Hervie and Mary Flowers. Two sisters:
Christine Jones, Vernelia Roy, two brothers: Hervie Jr. and Lee Flowers
preceded her in death.
Dorothy received Christ early in her life.
Dorothy came to Cleveland, Ohio with her family in the 50’s. She received
her education at East High School and later at Cuyahoga Community
College. While working as a Teachers Aide she was introduced to the love
of her life Clinton Barrett. They would later marry and of that union they
had two children: Clinton Barrett Jr. and Keith Barrett.
Dorothy lived with her youngest sister Jean and her husband Terry Gray,
who she was fondly called (Mister Gray). Her enjoyment was calling her
siblings and inquiring about what was made for dinner. Dorothy always
enjoyed a good meal. She loved being with her son Keith and his wife
Hannah while getting her hair done. She cherished the time watching her
grandchildren grow up. On some occasions when she could’t reach her
sons on the phone the would leave a lengthy message which she started by
saying, “This is your mother Dorothy, I just wanted to talk to you because
the sound of your voice makes me feel so good,” she would go on to say,
“Tell each one of my grandchildren grandma said hello,” mind you she
would call each one by their name. She would end her message by saying,
“This is your mother Dorothy my phone number is…” and close with
saying, “Love your mother Dorothy.”
Dorothy was at Willow Park for a short period of time, when she became
ill and was taken to UH Hospital. Dorothy fulfilled God’s assignment and
was called home on September 22, 2019.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons: Clinton Jr. and Keith Barrett
(Hannah, four grandchildren: Keith Jr., Marselius, Jania, DeAngelo, seven
great grandchildren, four sisters: Bernice, Maxine, Marie (Larry) and Jean
(Terry), one brother James, nieces, nephews and a host of friends who loved
her.
Rest in peace my sister, we love you.
