Edward Carrol was born on July 26, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio to the proud parents of Duncan Carroll Jr. (deceased) and Mercilee Carroll (deceased). Edward confessed and accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. Edward was educated in the Cleveland Public School Systems and received his diploma in Detroit, Michigan, where he later relocated and was employed at General Motors.
Edward was married to his first wife, Eloise Carroll (deceased) and four children were born and raised to this union. Edward committed his remaining years to Annie Pearl Lewis (deceased) and to this union five children were born and raised. He was an entrepreneur and consultant in home renovation, alongside his uncles. Edward later expanded his hobby in woodwork and created beautiful furniture for his children and grandchildren.
Edward was known to his family and friends as:” Eddie”. He was a vivacious, fun-loving and straight-forward person. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved to party with relatives and friends. Edward was a very expressive person. His facial expression and hand gestures were great cues for his point of view. One of his well-known quotes was, “Dot that ‘i’ and cross that ‘t’.” When we heard that phrase and saw that creative hand motion, we knew he meant business.
Edward Leaves to cherish and reserve his memory; one sister Sandra McCraney, one stepsister Rosa Smith, eight children, Mercedes Carroll, Jerome Carroll (Lisa), Fred Carroll, Michael Lewis, Kimberly Lewis, Vanessa Lewis, Teressa Stewart (Bruce) and Angela Lewis.
Twenty-four grandchildren: Dinyell Carroll, Dewayne Carroll, Jr., Angela Carroll, Marquita Carroll, Sheena Porter, Jerome Carroll, Jr., Jamal Carroll, JaLisa Carroll, Javon Carroll, Sharon Carroll, Michael Lewis, Jr., Marcus Lewis, Garianne Benson, Kamera Benson, Rysheta Taggart, Rashaunda Pendland, Lacey Pendland, William Pendland, Jr., Bruce Stewart, Jr., Crystal Stewart, Danielle Stewart, Dwayne Gray, JaQuis Gray and Carlos Garrett.
Thirty-three great-grandchildren: Akeia, Geris, A’ron, Kymauri, Kalaya, Marshae, Marshawn, Emorej, Emanie, Emalie, Elijah, Kennedy, Demetrius, Gabrielle, Grace Ann, Journi, Alphonzo Jr., Alanna, A’Marianne, Aubriella, Tiarra, Ta’vion, Bruce III, Destiny, Darius, Darion, Anya, Carter, Carmen, La’Nese, Camron, Na’Zir, and Angel.
Five great-great-grandchildren: Ava, Aniya, Ny’Asia, Amoryia and Khyrie.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, his first and second wife, his son Dewayne Carroll, brother Johnny Cooper, sisters Gloria Lamon and Juliette Cooper and a host of relatives and friends.
