Born in Tennessee, Geneva’s early years were shaped by the care and guidance of her aunt and uncle, Effie and Pap Rector, who raised her with love and compassion—qualities she carried with her throughout her life.
Geneva was the beloved wife and best friend of 59 years to Fred E. Sorrell Jr., a partnership built on enduring love, loyalty, and shared memories. She was a devoted and nurturing mother to Cheryl Lynn Huberty (Richard) and Fred E. Sorrell III, always placing her family at the center of her world.
Her greatest joy came from being “Meme” to her grandchildren, Heather Lynn Sorrell, Dale Buckwald Jr., and Fred E. Sorrell IV, who preceded her in death and remained forever in her heart. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Fred E. Sorrell V, whose life brought her immense happiness.
Geneva was preceded in death by her siblings James Tymon Lewis, Donald Lewis, Virginia Webb, Opal Hill and Burl Lewis. Though she experienced loss, her heart remained full of love for the many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were blessed to know her.
She will be remembered for her spirited, sassy personality, her warm heart, and the deep care she showed to everyone around her. Geneva found true happiness in the simple moments—being at home, surrounded by those she loved most. Her presence was a source of comfort, laughter, and unwavering support, and her absence will be deeply felt.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 14768 Lorain Avenue, Cleveland. Funeral services will be held there on Thursday at 11:00 AM, with interment to follow at West Park Cemetery.
Geneva’s love lives on in all who knew her, and her memory will forever be cherished.
