

John G. (Johann Gregor) Filippi of Avon, Ohio has joined his sister Katharina, his brother Franz, his parents, and the rest of our departed relatives in heaven. John belonged to the Zillich family that traces to Peter Zillich born 1808 in Warjasch, Austria-Hungary. He leaves behind his loving wife, Margaret (Gitta); Children, Robert(Liz), Anna(Karl) Morgenthaler, and John(Linda); Grandchildren, Erika (Ryan)Temple, Maria (Robert) Fabian, Nikolaus (Nicole) Filippi, Audrey (Brandon) Wren, Victoria (Rich) Dibler, Katherine (Roy) Napoli, Gregory Filippi, Patricia (Steve) Cunningham, Jeffrey Filippi, Jonathan Filippi; Great –Grandchildren Ava, Sebastian, Matthias, Alexander, Johanna, Lydia Gitta, Mikayla, Monika, Anton, Elijah, Dominic, Gavin, Juliana, and Corbin. A butcher by trade, John worked in the metals business in Cleveland, where he settled after emigrating from Germany in 1959. John was known for the neatest yard on the block. His hobbies included soccer, singing with the Banater Chor, making Bratwurst, listening to German “Volksmusik” on the radio or cd player, and sweeping his sidewalk. He was a traditionalist who loved to be in the company of his family! When they came to his house the first order of business was a “pussl” for Papa, Opa, or Opa-pa. He had room in his heart for all of them. Family will receive friends Monday 4-8 pm at CORRIGAN CRACIUN FUNERAL HOME 14768 LORAIN AVE., CLEVELAND. Where Services will be held Tuesday 10 am.
