

John Omar, born on June 12, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio, was the beloved son of John Davis and Mildred McLaughlin Davis. In his youth and throughout his life, John embodied creativity and curiosity. He was a musician, poet, auto mechanic, and skilled wood carver. A lifelong learner, original thinker, and philosopher, he became widely known for his artistry in wood carving and his deep commitment to uplifting his community. He was well known throughout greater Cleveland, Ohio. If you live in Greater Cleveland, you may have seen him at one of the many summer festivals, such as the Hessler Street Fair or the Murtis Taylor Festival, which later became the Sanaa Cultural Arts Festival.
John was a devoted father, grandfather, entrepreneur, and mentor whose wisdom and generosity touched many lives.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Naima Omar; his grandchildren, Brandon White and Alexander White; his sister, Terry Boldware; and his nieces and nephews, Mishawn Davis, Rochelle Linder, Theresa White, and Anthony White. He is also remembered fondly by his former wife, Valerie McFadden, along with a host of cousins and dear friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Davis and Mildred Samuel, and his sister, Lydia Davis.
May his spirit live on through the many hearts he touched.
