Kevin was born on June 12, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio, and he passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 7, 2025, at the age of 68. His life was filled with love, laughter, and resilience, touched by the challenges he faced with Parkinson's Disease. A graduate of Mid Park High School, Kevin's life journey led him across various states, where he pursued a diverse career. He worked as a radio DJ in Arkansas and Wyoming, where his charismatic personality and quick wit captivated audiences. Later, he found stability and fulfillment as a chrome plater at Duray Plating in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was respected and appreciated by his colleagues.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert & Wilma Oney. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary; children, Ryan (Sarah) Oney, Robyn (Alex) Cantu, Erin Oney, and Amanda Berens; Grandchildren, Ryland, Tayson, Ryker, and Remingtyn Oney; Zoey Cantu; Hayley, Stella, and Grace Musselman; Kaylie LaVeau and Karissa Miller; as well as his brother, Joseph Oney.
Kevin took great pride in his role as a father to his four children and grandfather to his ten grandchildren. He was especially proud of his two children who currently serve in the U.S. Navy, embodying the values of duty and dedication he held dear. In his spare time, Kevin was an avid reader with a deep love for science fiction, often losing himself in pages of his favorite books. He also enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles and a great movie! However, nothing brought him more joy than spending precious moments with his family, creating lasting memories that they will carry in their hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation at https://www.parkinson.org/ to support research and care for those affected by this challenging condition.
A memorial visitation to honor Kevin’s life will be held from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with a service beginning at 5:00 PM on Tuesday April 15, 2025 at Craciun Berry Funeral Home, 7200 Detroit Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44102.
The Oney family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to O'Neill Healthcare Lakewood for the care they provided to Kevin and to Craciun Berry Funeral Home for their compassion during this difficult time. Kevin will be deeply missed. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, who were privileged to know and love him. Rest in peace Kevin.
