Luis Alonso Casco Sr., age 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 15, 2025. Born in Tela, Honduras, the son of the late Manuel Martinez and Carmen Flores. Luis carried the warmth, resilience, and vibrant spirit of his Honduran roots throughout his life. Though he would have celebrated his 74th birthday on November 30, he leaves behind a legacy full of meaning, love, and connection.
Luis was a proud veteran who served his country with honor, and later, he retired from NASA, where his work and dedication contributed to one of the most important space agencies in the world. His time in both the military and at NASA was a testament to his commitment to service, excellence, and the advancement of technology and exploration.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Luis Casco Jr., Michael Casco, Armando Ramirez, and Antonietta Casco, as well as his grandchildren, Gabby, Arden, and Dorsett and Step Great Grandchildren Eleysia and Ayden. and his sister, Lilian Flores Salgado and brother Manuel Flores. His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A man of great kindness, humor, and warmth, Luis was a source of comfort and joy to all around him. At home in Cleveland, he created a sanctuary of love and belonging, where many found solace and support.
Luis’ journey from Tela to the United States is a testament to the sacrifices, hopes, and dreams of countless individuals who leave their homeland to build new lives. He did so with dignity, a generous heart, and quiet service to those in need.
His legacy is rooted in his love for his family, his strong ties to both his Honduran heritage and the Cleveland community, and his enduring spirit of generosity and compassion. Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we take comfort in knowing that his life was rich with meaning and filled with moments that will continue to live on in our memories.
A celebration of Luis’ life will be held on November 2, 2025 at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 14768 Lorain Avenue Cleveland, where the family will receive friends from 1PM-5PM.
