It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maricela Castillo Gonzalez Tamas, 81, of Cleveland, Ohio, on Friday, February 27, 2026. Maricela was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, to the late Eduardo Castillo and Antonia Mendoza Castillo.
A loving and devoted mother, Maricela leaves behind her children, Eduardo Gonzalez, Marissa Gonzalez, and Linda Gonzalez, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Mia and Alex Gonzalez. Maricela
She was a dear cousin to many and a true friend to those who were lucky to know her. Maricela was a devout Catholic and a long-time member of La Sagrada Familia Church, where she also belonged to the Asociación Guadalupana. Her unwavering faith was reflected in her daily life, as she often prayed the rosary and offered her love and care to those around her. She found joy in spending time with her family and friends, often sharing laughter, stories, and love over a cup of coffee or while shopping for anything that caught her eye. Her generosity, kindness, and loyalty knew no bounds. She was a devoted mother and friend, always putting others first, and was loved beyond measure by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 5:30 PM at Craciun Berry Funeral Home, 7200 Detroit Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44102.
A funeral Mass and entombment will be held at a later date in Guadalajara, Mexico, where Maricela will be laid to rest surrounded by her family and the community she loved.
Maricela will forever be remembered for her love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and faith. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love of God.
