

Marilyn Brown was born on January 24 1952 in Cleveland Ohio to Mary L. Brown and Jesse Brown. She excelled in academics as a child and attended East High school. She served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1973. She later attended University of Denver and then Cleveland State University earning her bachelors degree in mathe-matics. She earned a masters degree in engineering also from Cleveland State and began extensive work toward a doctorate. She taught mathe-matics at both Cleveland State and Cuyahoga Community College. She also worked as an engineer at the Cleveland Water department. As a passionate social justice advocate, Marilyn traveled extensively on the African continent all the while collecting many friends and African arti-facts. As a young woman she was a member of the All African Peoples Revolutionary Party. Marilyn also loved children and was especially gifted at working with and inspiring young people to achieve both academically and otherwise. Marilyn is preceded in death by her father Jesse Brown, brother Melvin Brown, and her niece Naiesha L. Brown. She leaves behind family members including her mother Mary Brown, siblings: Roy Brown, Michael Brown, Carolyn Brown, Gwendolyn Brown and Ronald Brown along with a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves many dear friends including Michael Suber. Throughout her time on this earth she was soulfully searching for her roots and a place to call home. She will be missed dearly; may she rest in peace.
