She was born in San Juan, PR, the daughter of the late Pedro Maldonado Tellez and Emilia Sanchez Herrera.

Petra was the beloved wife of the late Raul, who predeceased her on January 10, 2020; loving mother of Rosa Gonzalez, Raul Gonzalez and Navia Hood; cherished grandmother of Chantel, Chajira, Briana, Ziomara, Raul III, Leyla, Jose, Estephan and Gladielyz and great-grandmother of Yamil and Elijah
