Theodore Paul Cover, known affectionately as Ted, passed away on August 6, 2024, in Cleveland, Ohio, at the age of 62. Born on May 20, 1962, in Cleveland, Ted was a cherished member of his community and a beloved figure in his family.
Ted served honorably in the US Army from 1984 to 1988, dedicating four years of his life to national service, which was marked by both discipline and camaraderie. After his military service, he returned to his hometown where he was known for his loving and kind nature. A lifelong and long-suffering fan of the Cleveland Browns, Ted's loyalty to his team was as steadfast as his devotion to his family and friends.
He is survived by his sons, TJ Gibson, Andrew Gibson (Krystal), and Mark Cover; his cherished friends, Marsha Gibson and Lorraine Gibson; and his siblings, James Frazer Sr., Jack Frazer Sr., Linda Gregory Moore, and Brenda Gregory. Ted was a favorite uncle to many and an adored grandfather to Allie Smith. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joann Bartell, stepfather, William K. Bartell, and siblings, Richard Cover Jr. and Sandra Cover. Ted's loyal and crazy Jack Russell Terrier, Freddy, also survives him.
A unique "Tailgate for Ted" memorial service will be held in his honor on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Corrigan Craciun Family Center, located at 14768 Lorain Road, Cleveland, OH 44111. This gathering will celebrate Ted's life and his love for the Browns in a manner he would have cherished.
