She was mother to many and stuck up for those who didn't have. Through the trials and tribulations, she kept her chin up and persevered. She held steadfast in times of uncertainty, and learned that she had to be willing to change in a changing world not always easy to understand. She forgave and welcomed and showed good graces. When a neighbor needed help, she was there. When the saddest of very sad events happened, the death of her wonderful, charming, kind prince of a nephew, Tommy, she was there for those needing a shoulder to cry on. When resources were few, she pulled through for those under her wings, sometimes using coupons and coins, but making it work. She seemed to have an inherent knowledge of the concept of how it sometimes takes a village to raise a child. She babysat for and helped to raise many, often taking stray, neglected, and troubled children along on family adventures, welcoming them in her brood as if they were one of her own. She could be dignified and rambunctious and sometimes stern. She didn't always understand the ways and choices of others, but she knew that is the way life worked. She let children be children, and sometimes joined in on their water balloon fights on hot summer days - pretending to be upset when hit by a balloon, but unable to stop from smiling and laughing. She showed gratitude when someone did something nice. She gave compliments to those who needed them most. It is unlikely that she knew how much good she did. She liked the smell and color of lilacs and enjoyed going to her husband's baseball games. She could dance a good polka, and also made great perogies and stuffed cabbage that she shared with many. She laughed, she danced, she cried, she hugged. She led a full life, and many should be grateful for the lady known as Veronica Delores Merkosky, Vern, Vernie, Mrs. Merkosky, Mom. Praise her, praise her. It was an honor to be in her presence. God bless her soul in peace and love.

Vernie used to babysit me when I was a child, will always remember her chasing after us in Mohican Park in one of her house dresses. I havent seen her in many years, but am sorry to hear of her passing, Prayers and condolences to the entire Merkosky family.

The world was a better place because of Mrs Merkosky. We all learned alot from her over the years. May God be with you all and watch over all of you
