

Donald Earl Kundrath, 78, of Clinton, CT, died Friday in Middletown after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband to Charlotte for 50 years and loving father to 5 children and 7 grandchildren. Along with Charlotte, his four daughters Therese (Kundrath) Morris of Middletown, Mary Kundrath of West Hartford, Catherine (Kundrath) Weber, of Southborough, MA and Maureen (Kundrath) Pascucilla, of Madison, and son Joseph Kundrath of North Branford, were at his bedside upon his passing. Don (Opa/Grandpa) will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Ian and Jessica Morris, Christina Young, Benjamin Weber, Sands and Grady Pascucilla, and Brianna Kundrath. His son- and daughter – in-laws Robert Morris, Patti Schlosser, Paul Weber, Michael Pascucilla and Ericka Kundrath are greatly saddened by his passing.
Don was an avid gardener and fisherman who loved to make pies from his apple and peach trees. He made his living as a plastics engineer, having attended Gannon University, and Cathedral Prep in Erie, PA. In 1960, he and Charlotte bought a 100-acre farm in Ripley, New York and started a family. After moving to Clinton in 1979, his career gave him the opportunity to travel in Europe, and he fell in love with Portugal and Portuguese wine; a passion that continued throughout his life. For nearly 20 years after retiring from engineering, he worked at Stop and Shop in Old Saybrook. More than anything, he loved his grandchildren, who brought him incredible joy. He was a parishioner/ communicant of St Mary’s Church of the Visitation, Clinton, CT and Veteran of the Korean War.
Visiting hours will be at Swan Funeral Home in Clinton, CT on Tuesday, January 4th from 9 to 10:30 am with a Mass to celebrate his life at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation in Clinton. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Shoreline Soup Kitchen and Pantries, Essex, CT.
