Dorothy L Killian

Killian, Dorothy Lorene McAndrews , formerly of Killingworth and West Haven, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2016. She was born April 8, 1920 in Lowell, MA, the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (Bessette) McAndrews. Married to the love of her life John Joseph Killian, Jr. for 62 years until his death in 2005.

Dorothy was a very energetic, hard working woman. In her early forties she became an LPN and later graduated from the University of Bridgeport as an RN at the age of 56. All this while she and John raised a family of five. She practiced nursing at the St. Rita's wing of St. Raphael's Hospital for many years and later at several nursing homes. She also did private duty and was known to make homemade pies for her patients. She will be missed by her five children, Dorothy (Bill) Abbott, Northford; Sharon Gamber, Plantsville; Jack (Ginny) Killian, Parkersburg, WV; James (Janice) Killian, Texas; Debra Killian, Killingworth. Dorothy leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Dorothy's family would like to express their deep appreciation for all the loving care and kindness given to her during her lengthy stay at the Watrous Nursing Center in Madison, CT. No words can adequately express our gratitude to the wonderful staff that lovingly cared for her.
