Jane F. Dunn

Dunn, Jane F. Jane F. Dunn, retired Lieutenant Colonel, Registered Nurse of the U.S. Air Force passed away on February 15, 2013. Jane was born in New Haven, CT on March 24, 1924 to the late Jeremiah F. and M. Loretta (Cavanaugh) Dunn. Jane, along with her sisters Loretta and Elizabeth became registered nurses having trained at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine. They all joined the U.S. Military. Loretta and Elizabeth became Navy nurses and Jane entered the Air Force and became a flight nurse. During the Vietnam War she was stationed in the Philippines caring for burned soldiers and preparing them for transport back to the U.S. She then became a hospital administrator in Minot, North Dakota. After 20 years of military service she received an Honorable Discharge and returned to New Haven to take care of her mother and sister Anna. She moved to Clinton for 30 years and was a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation. She then sold her Clinton House and resided in Guilford at the Gables. Besides her parents, Jane was predeceased by her brother, Daniel J. Dunn; sisters Elizabeth Dunn Arcand and Anna E. Dunn. She is survived by her sister Loretta Dunn McCarthy formerly of East Haven, now of Wallingford; and brother William L. Dunn and his wife Jane (Healy) Dunn of Clinton and sister-in-law Margaret Boyce Dunn formerly of New Haven, now of East Providence, RI. She will also be missed by her 22 nieces and nephews and many grand and great grandnieces and nephews. They lovingly referred to her as "A.J." She was loved dearly by all. Jane returned to Clinton and resided at Peregrine's Landing. Her family would like to thank the staff at Peregrine's Landing for their care and support. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in Clinton followed by a reception in the church hall. Burial will take place at a future date at St. Lawrence Cemetery in New Haven. Swan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.swanfh.com
