On Monday September 26, 2022, Sandra Ann (Krygowski) Buskey passed away peacefully at home after a long and valiant battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her large, loving family. Sandy was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on November 28, 1942, to the late Stanley A. Krygowski Jr, and Susan M. (Bugno) Krygowski. She grew up on Linden Street in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts, the eldest of three children. By age eleven, with both of her parents working outside the home, and perhaps because she seemed to be born a responsible adult, she was regularly charged with caring for her younger sister and brother, Eileen and Tom. Sandy graduated from Chicopee High School in 1960. In 1961 while attending mass at St. George Catholic Church in Chicopee, she sighted handsome fellow parishioner Richard Buskey; after one date they “knew,” and they married on July 4, 1962. In 1964 they welcomed their first child Michael. Soon after, with the encouragement of Richard’s brother Hank and his wife Pat, and an opportunity to buy a plot of undeveloped land, they moved to Clinton, Connecticut. There, four adults, and six children happily and gratefully shared a small house on Bluff Avenue, while they worked together to clear two lots and build two houses . . . themselves. With their sturdy homes built, they continued to share their lives, living across a gravel road from each other as one extended-immediate family. Now with plenty of room to grow, Richard and Sandy had two more children Christopher, and Jennifer.
Sandy was a devoted wife and mother, who taught her children and grandchildren to always look for the positive, and that the only thing to do when met with failure, is to “try, try again!” Outside the home, she worked for a time at Chesebrough-Ponds in Clinton, and then later made a long and successful career as a bookkeeper and accountant at Structural Graphics in Essex, Connecticut. She planted and groomed gorgeous flower gardens; enjoyed watching and feeding songbirds; she loved all kinds of music, especially the Everly Brothers; she was a hopeful-realist, who constantly embraced wonder and looked for the light and beauty in all things; she continually found it; she was resolute, compassionate, and strong. More than anything though, she deeply loved her family, by whom she will be immeasurably missed.
Sandy leaves behind her faithful husband of 60 years, Richard; her children Michael (Maureen) Buskey, Christopher (Catherine) Bousquet, and Jennifer Buskey; three granddaughters, Allison, Jenna, and Elenore; her extended-immediate family of sister-in-law Patricia Bousquet, nephews and nieces Jack (Linda) Bousquet, Jill (Robert) Hale, Bonnie (Paul) Haggerty, Robin (Matthew) Corcoran, and Gary (Lisa) Bousquet, and their children and grandchildren; her brother Thomas J. (Douglas Bock) Krygowski; nephew Scott Krygowski; brother-in-law Gilles Picard; as well as several beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, and many cherished nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her sister Eileen May Picard, her nephew Matthew Krygowski, and her brother-in-law Henry N. Bousquet.
