

Mrs. Annie Ruth Saxon McPhail, age 89, passed away at Baptist Medical Center on March 30, 2013. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 on Monday April 1, 2013 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church Clinton at 3:00 on Tuesday April 2, 2013 with visitation preceding the service at 2:00. Burial will follow at the Clinton Cemetery.
Mrs. McPhail was born in Waynesboro, MS on April 9, 1923. She attended MSCW and served as a Home Economics Agent in Wayne County after graduation. After the end of World War II, she met and married Coach Hartwell McPhail of Brookhaven, MS. The couple moved to Clinton, MS in 1960 when her husband got the head football coaching positionat Mississippi College. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was also an active social entertainer, educator, musician and member of First Baptist Church Clinton.She especially enjoyed playing the piano for residents in local nursing homes, singing with the Joy Makers at First Baptist Church Clinton, playing bridge and making flower arrangements with her friends and talking about her grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband Coach Hartwell McPhail and parents Walter and Lula Saxon of Waynesboro, MS
She is survived by her son Dale McPhail and two grandsons Stephen and Andrew McPhail.
