Olivia Kathryn Burgess

Olivia Kathryn Oswalt Burgess passed away on December 15, 2012, at the age of 89. She was born in Pocahontas, MS, on January 26, 1923. She was lifelong resident of Jackson where she was employed by McRae’s Department Store for many years. She was member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Vilas Burgess, by her father John Henry Oswalt, her mother Jessie Brown Oswalt Mason, her step-father Major Lee Mason, her brother and only sibling Maurice Brown Oswalt and by her eldest daughter Linda Ishee of Dallas, TX.

Survivors include daughter Rita Anderson (Ronald) of Clinton, sons Thomas Burgess (Cynthia) of Jackson and John Burgess (Beth) of Raymond, and son-in-law James A. Ishee (Bjorg) of Ft. Worth, TX. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton beginning at 1:00 PM with funeral service following at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow the service in Lula Baptist Church Cemetery.
