Born and raised in Algonac, Michigan, she was the eldest of eight children born to Clarence and Ella Christy. From a young age, Clarice took on a nurturing role, often helping her mother care for her younger siblings—an early sign of the selflessness and strength that would define her throughout her life. Clarice married early in adulthood and went on to raise nine children of her own. Her family was a source of pride and joy. She most cherished moments like the naming of her oldest grandchild in her honor—Clarice Louella. She often marveled at the blessing of witnessing five generations of her family alive at the same time, standing as the beloved matriarch at the head of it all.
An animal lover at heart, Clarice found companionship in her two cherished chihuahuas. She also delighted in collecting decorative items featuring fish, butterflies, and other animals, as well as a playful collection of stuffed animals, including Ty Beanie Babies.
Clarice had an appreciation for nature that extended to her love of yard work. Following a life-altering accident in midlife that challenged her mobility, she turned to gardening as a means of healing—both physically and emotionally. Her yard became a source of beauty and pride, reflecting her resilience and determination. She also enjoyed crafts such as crocheting, always keeping her hands—and her mind—engaged.
A devout Jehovah’s Witness, Clarice was a faithful and active member of her Kingdom Hall. In earlier years, she shared her faith through door-to-door ministry, and in her later years, through letter writing.
True to her caring nature, Clarice worked for 11 years as a caregiver to others at Patton Home for the Disabled. Clarice’s life was one of quiet strength, deep love, and enduring faith. She leaves behind a legacy of care, creativity, and devotion that will continue to live on in the many generations she inspired.
She is survived by her partner of 43 years, her husband Clifford McNair; Her daughter, Cynthia Jones (David Kohut), sons Robert Rohn, Edward Rohn, Albert Rohn, Charlie Rohn, Brian Rohn, and step-daughter Tinesha McNair; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Clarice was preceded in death by her sons, Billy, Jeffrey and Ronnie Rohn, as well as her 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
A service for Clarice will be held at a later time at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
