Colleen Rose Sordean of Clinton Township, Michigan passed away May 6th 2019. She was born in Prairie Creek (Vigo County) Indiana on August 3, 1925 to Oral and Thelma Newlin. Colleen is survived by her son Monte Rigney of Clinton Township, Michigan, daughter Alanna Allen of Madisonville, Kentucky, and sister, Beverly Lilly of Oxford, Michigan. She was blessed with five grandchildren: Christopher Alan Rigney, Bryan Scott Rigney, Ashley Elizabeth Salatrik (Rigney), Marlo Allen and Michele Allen; eight great grandchildren Ivan Rigney, Jonah Rigney, Grayson Rigney, Gabriel Rigney, Noah Salatrik, Tristan Rigney, Dalton Hankins, Mika Hankins, Kameron Smith Livingston, Kinsley Philpot, and Laya Philpot; and two great great grandchildren Oliver Hankins and Finley Hankins.
After graduating from Pimento High School Colleen moved to Van Dyke, Michigan (Now Warren, Michigan). During WW II Collen worked at a parachute factory in Detroit, Michigan. After the war she moved back to Indiana and married Marion Rigney and they had two children Monte and Alanna Rigney. After being widowed in 1964 she married Victor Sordean of Terre Haute, Indiana residing in Indianapolis for many years and eventually to Greenville, Kentucky. In 1999 she and Victor moved to Michigan. A cheerleader in high school enjoying singing and a talent for music Colleen played piano, violin, accordion, and organ.
Over the years Colleen wore many hats along with wife and mother, an accomplished hair dresser, working for the Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company and displayed her beautiful smile, sense of style and charm to the customers at Schultz’s Department Store. Her life was committed to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to her family and friends.
Visitation for Colleen will take place on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 10am until 11:30am at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Rd., Clinton Township, Michigan. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30am and Colleen will be placed to Rest at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley, Michigan.
