My Grandma Di, where do I even start. She was 100% the most positive and bubbly person I knew. Every time I visited her she never failed to keep me constantly smiling. She acted as a guidance in my life and was such a huge influence due to her continuous strength and courage. She has inspired me to be the person I am today. I will forever cherish our big and small memories together. Going over her house a few days after her chemo treatments was special for me. We would always sit down together and work on a huge 1000+ piece puzzle for hours until we finished, and then sometimes we’d take breaks and she would make delicious homemade cinnamon sugar doughnuts. Also, did I mention her original “Grandma’s salad” was and has been my favorite dish of all time! Every Christmas she made sure to make it just for me. Overall my beautiful grandma was definitely the most selfless, caring person I knew and I’m so lucky and grateful to have met such a kind, warm soul like hers. Although I will dearly miss her and her positive energy, she’s flying high in a better place. Her love and remembrance will stay in my heart forever. Lots of love, Brookie. (1/3 grandma’s girls)

Every time I see a flower I think of Dianne. Like a flower she was beautiful, unique and brought joy to everyone. I will forever remember our talks over a glass of wine or two, sitting on the deck...not only her favorite place but mine too. I would spill a secret, ask for advice or share a funny story about one of Mark’s handyman debacles. We would laugh while the sun shined and glittered off the pond like diamonds. Many times we would stroll around her house inspecting and admiring her flowers. She loved those flowers...tending to them like she did her family...nurturing and loving. Her pride and joy showed in all that she touched, her love put into every family gathering and meal, and her smile was infectious. She was colorful, genuine, had a huge heart and created a family who will carry on her legacy. I often ask myself why she had to leave us so soon. When you’re in a garden which flowers do you pick? The most beautiful ones....love you mom...

Grandma Di was the best, I’ll never forget all the fun times we had playing computer games and watching all of her favorite game shows. Even though she never liked Wayne Brady, I still got her to watch Let’s Make a Deal because I loved it. I’ll never forget the hundreds of times I went over to the house just to hang out all day with her and grandpa. Countless mac and cheese lunches while watching the Price is Right or Ellen. Also, Spyro will always have a special place in my heart because it was Grandma Di’s favorite game to watch me play on game systems as early as PlayStation 1. There are too many great memories with grandma to list off my best times, but every time I play Spyro, watch morning game shows, watch  Ellen, or see The Days of Our Lives on, I’ll be thinking of Grandma Di and all of our great times together. Stay strong grandpa, I’ll be thinking of you every day! I love you so much!

Final Part From Loving Daughter Lisa,
We celebrated life and the fact that she was with us every chance we had.  We told her how much we loved her and how special she was along with all of the things that people sometimes regret not saying.  For more than 6 years she fought like hell, defied all odds and outlived all expectations and we are all so very thankful.
This past Mother’s Day we pitched in and gave my mom the 23 & Me DNA kit.  Within 3 days of getting the results Cara was able to confirm that my mom had 2 (1/2) sisters named Barb and Pat.  Their dad, George, was mom’s birth father.  Although George had passed away a number of years earlier, Barb and Pat instantly welcomed mom and the rest of us to their family even though prior to that none of them ever knew my mom existed.  They flew here to meet all of us and brought pictures of her dad and shared lots of great stories about the man he was.  The 71 year mystery was finally solved and mom had the closure she searched for and gained 2 wonderful sisters as well.
Since mom’s diagnosis my sister Cara has called my mom every single day just to talk and this week in the hospital Cara was sitting next to mom crying and looked at me and said “who am I going to call every day?”  I said, you could call me.  She looked at me like I was from another planet and said “I don’t want to call you”.  I get it, because no one could ever take mom’s place.  She really was that special.  She poured her heart and soul into everything she did.  She loved to have fun, play games and enjoyed her wine.  Her bubbly personality and infectious laugh combined with her beautiful smile lit up any room.  Unlike the Grinch, her heart was 10 sizes too big for her body.  She was small in stature but left a big impression wherever she was.  She was my inspiration, mentor and hero and although a piece of my heart is broken I am thankful she is no longer suffering and is in a better place with her parents and birth father George plus many others.

Growing up, my mom was the stay at home mom who was involved in everything at school for the 3 of us kids and attended every one of our activities and sporting events.  She was that mom that all of our friends just loved too.  She was a fantastic cook who had a homemade dinner on the table every night when my dad came home from work.  When we were older she became a very successful Fur Salon Manager winning sales awards year after year.  Later, she switched careers and worked in the Estimating department at Continental Plastics until they closed.

In her spare time, mom enjoyed playing tennis with a group of ladies who would become lifelong friends.
My mom was adopted as a baby and was raised by two wonderful parents.  When she turned 50 with the help of my aunt Jane, my mom found out who her birth mother was and although her birth mother was not interested in getting to know my wonderful mom or us, the rest of her birth mother’s family welcomed us with open arms but no one would tell us anything about her birth father.  This was something that my mom desperately wanted to know and bothered her for many years.
In 1998 she became “Grandma Di” for the first time and was blessed with a total of 5 grandkids.  She was such a cool grandma who had a close and special bond with each of her grandchildren and surprised them all this past Thanksgiving when she revealed that she dyed her hair purple just for fun.

On October 1st, 2011 (day 1 of breast cancer awareness month) she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer.  Even though mom hated country music, from that day forward she lived like the Tim McGraw song “Live Like You Were Dyin”.  We all made the most of every minute we had with her.  We took her to Hawaii and on quite a few other fantastic vacations.  Last year she saw her oldest grandchild graduate from high school.  We played cards and other games and gathered as a family time and time again.  We always celebrated life 

What we once enjoyed and deeply loved, we can never lose, for all that we love deeply, become a part of us.

The summer before Cara and I got married, you and Dad let me live in your basement.  What a terrible decision. What were you thinking??  All kidding aside, I will be forever grateful how you opened your home and your heart to me without hesitation.  When Cara and I got married in 1995 I realized that I was getting an awesome 2nd mom. The holidays, birthdays and vacations we all shared together will forever hold a special place in my heart.   Your tenacity in cards and games was unmatched. You showed that same tenacity towards loving and supporting your family.  You left this earth way too soon but not before creating a family that will forever be working to make you proud.  I pray that my children and grand children will think of me as I think of you.  Love you Mom

Simply speaking, Dianne Forrey was one of the kindest, sweetest, smartest, wittiest, most caring, most passionate, most genuine, most loyal, most loving, and generally best people I have had the pleasure of meeting in my time on this planet. Lucky for me, she also just happened to be my mom.

I consider it an amazing gift to have had almost 49 years basking in the glow of her brightest of lights.....


I will always feel comfort that all the memories I have of my Grandma Di are good ones. I have multiple memories of playing card games with her or having fun on holidays. I also hold more specific memories like when she revealed her purple hair at Thanksgiving to us grandkids. Another is when I slept over her house and she gave me some simple advice about sleep and cereal even.  Above all though I think the thing I hold most dear is how much I looked up to her. Her sense of humor, her smile, and her amazing personality will forever stick with me. The fact that through tragedy she was able to smile and make us all laugh is so admirable to me. I know that the rest of my life will be spent trying to make her proud, and I can only hope to turn out to be half the person she was. I love and miss you so much, you will always be the most fabulous, most fun, and sweetest Grandma anyone could ever have.

Glam-ma Di,

She had the biggest heart of anyone I have ever met. She was always so positive and had the biggest smile on her face. I remember when Brooke and I were little and she would babysit us while our parents were out. We would play games, which she always won, and do puzzles. She came to several of my dance recitals and competitions and was always my biggest supporter. I am really going to miss her contagious smile and the way her voice would go up an octave when she’d talk to us. She was one of the most influential people in my life and she inspired me to keep going and to stay positive no matter how hard it is to do so. I loved her very much and while it may be hard knowing I will never see her again, I will forever be grateful for the time I got to spend with her. She really was the “coolest grandma.” I love and miss her very much.

My Grandma Di was an amazing person who loved and cared for all those around her.  I loved every moment I got to spend with her. I can still remember the times when she would come over to babysit and we would sit around in the family room and watch TV and talk together. I remember when she would be in the crowd at my sports games and I would try my hardest for her, and no matter what the outcome was, she would always be there at the end to congratulate  or console me. Her presence and attitude would always brighten my day.  She was more than just a grandma to my cousins and I, she was a friend. My Grandma Di will never be forgotten by me, and I will make sure to live my life in a way that would make her proud. I love you Grandma Di!

There are so many thoughts running through my head right now…but I am mainly remembering Dian’s beautiful smile and twinkling eyes! That smile has been a part of my life for over 55 years!!!! She has been more than a “sister-in-law”…but much more like a sister to me. When I went to my first High School Prom with Greg, the man I eventually married, she was there to show me how to put on my makeup, for the first time ever!!! She was there to help me and all our family celebrate every single major event in our lives (baby and bridal showers, graduations, special birthday parties, etc.), always with a smile. And even during the very difficult times, she was here for us, too...we will never forget her care, concern, love and kindness when things were really tough. She helped me when we were about to have our first child…giving me lots of tips and hints on how to care for a baby…and then she always passed down baby clothes and toys, and equipment, which we gladly used for our two children, Andi and John. She was always there on the other end of the phone when I had a question for her on how to “raise a child”…or sharing one of her wonderful recipes…or just for a funny joke or laugh. She was the BEST cook I think I’ve ever known, and you know what a good cook my mom was!!! I was in awe of how she could effortlessly put on a delicious meal for a great crowd!!! She made it look so simple. And then there were the many, many games we loved to play with her…those are certainly great times to remember.She loved her family, absolutely unconditionally, from the very moment each of you was born. She has left a wonderful, HUGE legacy in all of her family…and that makes me happy. I see her and hear her when I hear them all talk. We have so many wonderful memories of the times we had together…though it certainly was NOT enough time! I will miss her terribly, every day of my life, and I guess that says a lot for the kind of person she was.

I will always remember that "GREAT SMILE" that you brought to every family event.  It was a warm and gentle smile that was so contagious that no matter what your day was like, you would automatically forget what was on your mind and smile along.  Your love for ALL the grandkids was priceless, and you held a special bond with each one in a very loving way.  I will always cherish our Spring Breaks together in Hilton Head S.C, and the gulf coast of Alabama.  I will especially treasure the night we watched the NCAA basketball championship together in our reserved seats at Hilton Head, right in front of the big screen, what a blast for such a big fan of the game as you!  I will miss you so, so, much, but I will always know that you will be smiling down on us, and every time a smile hits my face because of something that I have seen, I will think of you. 

Dear Forrey Family, 

Dianne was and always will be remembered as a genuine and loving lady. Among many memories of Dianne's kindness, she never failed to stop by the cemetery during her walks to visit my little Nancy Jane and so many others. This meant the world to Ron and I, knowing that Nancy was remembered and cared for. I grieve for Dianne and her entire family. My friend Cara is a beautiful woman that has given my family more comfort then I can ever express in words, I only hope to provide the same kindness that she and her family deserve during this difficult time. I pray for Steve and Dianne's entire amazing family. I know that Dianne is with her angels now.

I am so sorry for your loss. There are not words to express the impact that Dianne made in this world.  She had such an electric personality and her laughter and love for life radiated through every room she entered into.  I have such fond memories of her, the fun times and visits from when I got to travel with Grandma and Grandpa Sivigny as a child and the fun times we spent together in Florida.  My heart aches for each of you during this time as she will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her. Her life was full with the love she had for all of you. I would often hear people talk about having a strained relationship with their moms and would always feel so bad for them because I knew what they were missing.  My mom always made it so very easy to love her and her unselfish heart was ALWAYS in the right place.  She understood me better than most people and I treasured my daily phone calls with her.  I will miss her physical presence every single day, but will carry her in my heart forever.  I will spend the rest of my life trying to make her proud.  I feel like she is the mom that everyone dreams of, but I was lucky enough to have.  Thank you for loving me, your baby girl, Cara.


Dianne, daughter, friend, mother, wife, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, m-i-l,, customer, citizen (not crazy about voting), fan, patient, TV viewer, tennis player, employee, CA fighter...and more.  

Most importantly, Dianne was a human being, just like the rest of us.  She faced each day with grit and guts.  She had an infectious laugh and I will miss that most.  It would rise above the general cacophony at family gatherings.  She was front and center at tables where games were played, or cookies were baked, or bets were placed.  Why not join in?  Even when not feeling well, she would join in - give a good example to her adoring grandchildren.  She said, "YES" to many opportunities that were scarey like "meet a birth mother" or "meet blood siblings" later in life.  Most of us will experience a reduction in family size over time, hers grew exponetially.  She was eternally grateful for her three children, their spouses and five grandchildren.  Steve was her first and always love BUT she preferred him NOT orchestrating her meal times even though "it was for her own good during the 6 year struggle with cancer."  Lady Di wanted to call the shots to the very end. Who doesn't?  

She loved her flowers and hated the messy geese.  Loved the deck that faced the serene pond.  She was grateful to the Sivigney's for embracing this tiny girl's life as their own. Steve's siblings became her own.  Margaret and Don Forrey were thrilled that Steve found such a wonderful life partner to travel the open road with. Friends, like the  Larsons shared the ride and a giggle along the way.

Dianne was a gift and a miracle to me and Pat.  She will always be in my heart and never forgotten.  You were blessed to have her as a wife, mother and grandmother - so sweet, loving, positive and fun.  She will always be with you and watching over you.  Listen when she calls your name and sends you signs of her presence. Prayers, love and hugs as you move on, each in your own way and time.

No matter the passage of time, Dianne will forever be in our hearts and memories.
