Donald William Prystup, age 85, passed away on November 5, 2020 with his beloved wife Artha “Kay” Prystup by his side. He is also survived by an extended family and his very dear friend and golfing buddy, Frank Lattanzi.
Donald was a confirmed bachelor until he met Kay in his late 40s. They were happily married and inseparable for 38 years. Kay was with him until the very end.
Donald spent his life and made a career out of serving his country and community. He was a retired Police Officer and Fireman from the city of Grosse Pointe. Donald was trained in both positions because at that time, the City of Grosse Pointe split the positions. If you wanted to be either, you had to be trained and be able to work in both. Don loved to golf in his spare time and even had a hole-in-one to his credit!
He also proudly served his country in two divisions of military service ending with the Army. Donald earned a National Defense Medal due to his parachute and heavy weapon infantry skills.
Visitation 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield, Clinton Twp., MI. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
