

Frances was born on May 20, 1920 in Leisenring #3, Pennsylvania, to Andrew and Anna Check. She came to Detroit at 3 weeks of age. She has been predeceased by all her 10 siblings.
Her husband, John Sherry, predeceased her in death after 62 years of marriage. They made their home in Detroit and then in Fraser for the last 56 years.
She retired from Chrysler Corporation in Hamtramck after 30 years of service.
During her 36 years of retirement, she enjoyed crafting, sewing, baking, cooking, and of course, shopping. She never met a shopping mall that she did not enjoy. She was proud of her Slovak heritage and would attend weekend Slovak and polka festivals with her husband.
She is survived by her daughter, Joann Bernadich, (Charles) and her granddaughter Maja Martinez (Enrique II) and grandson, Peter. Also, she is survived by the "joy of her life" great-grandsons, Luke and Roman Martinez.
Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Margaret Check (George), sister-in-law, Josephine (June) Perry, and brother-in-law Steven Sherry along with a large extended family.
Visitation at Resurrection Funeral Home 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, MI from 4:00 to 8:00p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2015. Rosary will be said at 7:00p.m.
Mass at St. Clement of Rome in Romeo, Michigan at 10:00 Friday, August 28, 2015. Visitation prior to mass at 9:00- 10:00 in the church. Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Stephen Reckker.
Burial to be held at Resurrection after the luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen or wishes of the family.
