On Wednesday, August 31, 2016, heaven gained another angel. Hubert Amann, 82, was a bigger-than-life man who taught everyone about the importance of family, kindness, generosity to others, selfless caring, loyalty, and speaking your mind.
Hubert was born on February 19, 1934 in Falkenstein, Germany to Karl and Franziska Amann. His brothers were Karl, August, and Franz. At the age of 18, he immigrated to the United States and served in the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, Else Irmgard, on December 26, 1970. Always a hard worker, he spent many years at General Dynamics as a Tool and Die Engineer before retiring.
A lifelong love of drama, theatre, and music led Hubert to become a member of the GBU choir, through Carpathia Club, embracing his German heritage here in Michigan. Some of his favorite things inlcluded nature, animals, working in his yard, playing practical jokes, and his family.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Irma, and his four children: Mike (Suzanne), Barb (Kurt Lauer), Becky (Jim Rosbolt), and Tom (Ann Marie). He was survived by nine grandchildren: TC Lauer (Ashley), Brian Amann, Megan (Bobby Petty), Kira Lauer, Erik Amann, Olivia Rosbolt, Ari Rosbolt, Reese Rosbolt, and Barrett Amann, and two great-grandchildren: Seth Kelley and Bobby Petty. Always the family man, Hubert loved his extended family and will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.
