She was a very devoted wife of 66 years to Richard, and a loving and caring mother, sister, and greatest ‘Gram’. Janice loved spending time in her yard in East Detroit and Venice, Florida. She walked 5 miles each morning while residing in Florida and met many people on those walks. She was on speed dial/text for all her family in Michigan and boy did we use that daily. She loved her sports and was the biggest fan of the Detroit Tigers since World Series days in 1968. She could beat anyone at scrabble and was the ‘dictionary’ for all games. Her love and care for her family radiated from her and all of us had our lifeline as she was always a good listener and advisor!
She leaves millions of beautiful memories to her daughters, Sharon (Dan) Mergaert and Diana (Joe) Biondo; her three heartbroken grandchildren, Amanda (Scott) Elkins, Nick (Samantha) Mergaert, and Anntaninna (Anas) Biondo; and 5 great-grandchildren Jay, Liv, Erik, Henry, and David (and two on the way that will be blessed with stories of her). Janice was predeceased by her husband Richard, son John, brothers Paul and Dwayne, and her parents Mary and Winzel Renno.
A memorial gathering for Janice will be held Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 1-5 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Michigan.
