John H. Allison, Jr., age 76, passed away Nov. 19, 2014. John was recruited out of college as a Test Engineer for explosives and weapon system; which he claimed was the “bedrock of his career.” He was then recruited by UDT Special Ops Team. He served several missions during Vietnam. John went to EOD School for special training in explosives; he served in combat diving units and worked with Jacque Cousteau. He then worked at Fort Belvoir; establishing a diving team for the Green Berets and developing bubble-less diving system. John transferred to the Army Mine Division (Demolition) with strong ties to DIA. He was a Rank Major, was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Navy Commendation Medal, and has received letters of appreciation from President Bush. John was also a Black Belt, accomplished pianist and banjo player. He volunteered his time at the Adult Living Center with his band Virginia Gentlemen. John is survived by his wife: Beverly; sisters: Judy Rae and Carol Beane; daughters: Brandi, Teri, and Kelly; son: Tim; 5 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
