Age 76
Passed away Monday, May 5, 2014.
Judith was born in Keego Harbor, Michigan, and was a resident of Madison Heights. An achievement-oriented professional, she was a published writer, in addition to being an accomplished artist and musician. She attended the prestigious Lewis Cass Technical High School, where she was quite possibly the first female student to participate in science classes, directing her insistent personal request to the principal while accompanied by her mother. She later attended Wayne State University and the University of Michigan in her 30’s and 40’s. She eventually became a contributing member of the esteemed University of Michigan “Lyceum” literary arts journal more than once, garnering an invitation to the Henry Ford estate, as well as the opportunity to have her work featured in an instructional college textbook. She altruistically volunteered her time and assistance in connection with a program for developmentally disabled children. A former member of Toastmasters International and other organizations, she worked for various Fortune 500 companies as a certified professional secretary, in addition to working as a certified medical records technician for several area hospitals. Due to her great love of learning and academic environments, she ultimately retired from Walsh College in Troy where she was a faculty secretary. She encouraged her children to foster an appreciation of religion and spirituality, social awareness, the arts, classic and contemporary literature, French as a second language and especially music, motivating each of her children to play two instruments. Above all and by far, her most inspiring accomplishment was her effusive, transcendent demonstration of love for her family.
Judith was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald, with whom she became enamored at the age of eight. She was also preceded by several siblings; Robert, Patrick, Gerald, Joyce (Capizzo) and David. Beloved mother of Kathleen (Michael) Mulvey, Diane Boyer and Gregory (Sherry) Mitchell. Cherished grandmother of Siobhan, Sean, Jeremy, Christopher and Alex, and loving great-grandmother of Gabriel and Noah. Dear sister of Frank O’Brien, Connie Nihem and Rose Deschaine.
