It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Kalman Kokenyesdi. After a brief and courageous fight with liver failure, he is now at peace and resting in the arms of the Lord.
He was the beloved husband of Helene Kokenyesdi (Miller) for 40 years and the proud father of James (Julie Bulas), Karen, and Jennifer. He was the son of the late György Kökényesdi and Szenyita Julianna, and a dear godfather to Andrea Nagyné Kökényesdi.
Dad was a fighter in the truest sense. A native of Nyirlugos, Hungary, his story was one of remarkable resilience: a refugee who fled Communist Hungary, survived a terrible motorcycle accident, and immigrated to America with nothing. He was eternally grateful to Cadillac Motors in Detroit for the job that allowed him to build a beautiful life for his family and put all of his kids through college. His legacy continues in his adored grandchildren: Abigail (Phillip Sigouin), Delaney, Lincoln, and Dekker.
He was the definition of strength and sacrifice. Everything we are is because of him. We are so thankful he was our dad and are comforted knowing he is now resting easy with the Lord. We love you, Dad.
