Katherine Fuchs

Katherine was a woman whose heart was rooted in love — especially for her family, whom she cherished above all else. Her gentle spirit and deep appreciation for the natural world were evident in the way she loved gardens and watched birds with quiet joy, especially hummingbirds.

She found peace in the beauty of wildlife and comfort in the quiet focus of a game of solitaire. Katherine lived simply but fully, with a love that left a lasting imprint on the lives she touched.

Katherine is survived by her beloved children: Sandra Schnars (née Laity), Carol (David) Fuchs-terHorst, and Kimberly Witkowski; cherished grandchildren: Robert (Lindsey) Newman and their children: Tyler, Ellie, and Hudson; Robert (Shanna) Laity III and their children: Noah and Alexia; David (Jessica) Laity and their children: Elliana and Alexander; Julia (Kael) Leather and their children: Brady, Brycen, and Callan; Christopher Laity; Todd (Jackie) Laity; Ben (Julia) Laity and their children: Lucy and Peyton; Joseph (Lindsay) Murray and their children: Charlotte and Theo; Candice (Giuseppe) Messina and their children: Giulianna, Isabella, Luca, and Enzo; Carolyn (Kellen) Lawless and their children: Vera and Josie; Keith terHorst, Matthew Witkowski, and Madison Witkowski.

Katherine is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carl Fuchs; parents: Harry and Mary Koenig; daughter, Denise Newman; and sister, Jesse Monroe.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025 from 3pm-8pm at Kaul Funeral Home - 35201 Garfield Rd, Clinton Twp, MI. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 10am, with a gathering prior at 9am, at Kaul Funeral Home. Katherine will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Resurrection Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Katherine.

Katherine will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
